Going to look at these two on Saturday. A leftover 2015 Mazda6 i Touring with leather and a sunroof, and a 2016 Mazda6 i Sport with...well, no options. The infotainment system in the ‘16s is supposed to be upgraded but I don’t know if that’s worth not having any other options. I do know the unit in our 2013 CX-5 is not the best as far as responsiveness and iPod connectivity.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The ‘16s have revised front end styling, too. But only on the Grand Touring, which I can’t even dream of affording.

I’m leaning more towards that ‘15 as I can get more options for a lower price. But I don’t want the crap radio, either.

I would drive both of them and play around with both radios to see if the worse radio is really an issue.

Also would it be possible to buy the newer radio from somewhere and put it in the older car?

No because the new radio in the 16’s is like an iPad that was slapped on the dash. The older radio is actually built into the dash.

I would deal with the infotainment and get the touring model personally. But I really like fancy power seats they help with my back. But as said drive each and pick the one you prefer. I just vote touring.

I do not think you can swap these esp given how the screens are in different locations.

I go with the 15. The sport is bare bones and if you are going to spend the money on a car, you might as well get some options to go with it.

I guess this car got shot down as an option?

My recommendation is that you get the one with the most options, but my real recommendation is that you wait until you can afford the 2016 with more options. Don’t settle for a barebones 2016 unless you are going to lease it because you’ll be keeping the thing for a few years and it’s going to make you angry you got the one with no options. Your Mazda 3 still looks good. Unless you guys plan on trading in the CX5 for this purchase, I suggest waiting.

You can probably swing a better purchase price and/or financing deal if you go with the leftover 2015. Time is ticking to clear those out of inventory.

35 grand for a three-year-old Chrysler? Pass. Nice car, but we need something that an infant seat will fit in easily.

my brother-in-law got the Corolla S. He hates it because of the stiff ride it gets. (otherwise he likes the car, whatever) if you want something thats fairly comfortable to drive around then go with the Touring. He was actually looking to trade it for another 2014 Corolla non-S but would take such a hit it would actually be financially better to just buy softer shocks

I chose a slightly older car with more kit over a newer one that’s more basic. It’s worked out brilliantly. I say go for the 2015, but if you can find one in not-silver that would seal the deal

My 3 looks good in pictures. In actuality, it’s showing its age. It also is going to be a pain fitting an infant seat in it when we go to have a baby. Yeah, it’ll fit, but the seat in front of the infant seat will be unusable. Plus, I’d feel better in a car with more modern crash test scores and such.

Also, my 3 is rapidly decreasing in value the longer I keep it. I can get $7,000 out of it on trade right now, but that’s even a slight stretch. It’s just getting older. It needs brakes and will soon need struts, mounts, etc. We have $1,000.00 leftover at the end of each month if we stick to our budget, which itself is pretty lenient. My max payment for a car is $250.00. There’s a dealer about 3 hours from me that has 2016 Tourings for the same price as this close by dealer has that 2015. I plan to mention that. This dealer with the 2015 also just got a 2016 in stock. I’m going to see if they’ll work with me.

Yeah definitely see if they work with you. I understand about the age thing and the car seat thing but isn’t that what the CX5 is for? Are there going to be many times in which you absolutely HAVE to have both the car seat and another person in the front seat with you?

Personally I’d go for the 2015 car (though looking at some of the ‘added options’ like windshield wipers, child safety locks, etc... are standard equipment put in the added options section), the radio can be upgraded later but the options you like on the 15 would be hard to add and expensive to add to the 16 at a later date.

Don’t buy base unless it is all you need anyway.

No. The used ones are stupidly priced. A 2014 (older body style) with 30,000 miles is literally 3k less than a brand new one. The used car market is insane right now.

It’s like dream car vs reality. I bought a Mazda 3 over an RX-8 and I don’t regret it one bit. The mazda sedans are just way more fun to drive that just about any other 4-dr car on the road.

How many passengers do you have on average? I was under the impression it was just you and your wife. I’m just playing devil’s advocate because if you’re going to spend your hard earned money the key is not to “settle”. People spend their whole lives “settling” instead of getting what is the best thing.

Like if you settle and get the base 2016 with no options, in about 3 years you’re going to be slapping yourself for not getting the best thing with options you wanted and you’ll long for the day you can trade the car in for something with the options you should’ve had years prior.

My sister was faced with the same dilemma a few months back, ended up with a loaded ‘15 instead of a stripped ‘16. She’s happy.

My dad is looking at the same car and he got quotes for a well equipped touring at 22000 and about $4500 off the gt’s. Both 2016’s. There are about 10 dealers within 50 miles of us so there is plenty of competition.

I’m going to see the 2016 Touring they just got in. They haven’t posted pictures yet but I like all the colors available so that’s not an issue. And it’ll have leatherette seats in a Touring. My only restriction is that I don’t want tan cloth.

Yes no cloth! Stains wayyyy too easily and with a future baby in mind the interior would be rekt.
